Can Cell Phone Radiation Stop Alzheimer's Disease?

We usually see electronic gadgets such as mobile phone as gadgets that come with dangerous side effects. I posted about the dangers of radiation from cell phones for seniors. Many people also believe that cell phone use can cause major diseases such as brain cancer. However, a recent study shows that mobile phone radiation may be the key to stopping an illness that plagues seniors.

A study led by Gary Arendash of the University of South Florida in Tampa shows that cell phone radiation can prevent Alzheimer's disease.

Mice that were genetically altered to develop the rodent equivalent of Alzheimer's disease were exposed to the cell phone radiation. The results show that the mice exposed to radiation did better on tasks requiring memory than those not exposed. Amazingly, an impaired old mice regained memory after the treatment.

Apparently, the radiation broke up plaques of beta amyloid protein in the mice's brain cells. These plaques, which are found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease, cause the brain cells to degenerate and produces memory loss and other symptoms.

Obviously, this study has significance with seniors. Alzheimer's disease is generally diagnosed in people over 65 years of age.

Hopefully, this study can lead to a medical device that replicates the cell phone radiation's benefits for humans.

It's interesting to know that cell phones for senior citizens have other useful benefits other than connecting the elderly with family and friends.
