Huge all black Nokia 6500 slide gallery

Earlier this month we saw an all black 6300 come out of Asia, Singapore we thing, and now an all black 6500 Slide comes out of the wood work. Could 2008 be the year Nokia pulls a Samsung and makes all their devices blacker than black? With a 3.2 megapixel camera, dual LED flash, S40 and a solid stainless steel body this is a model to watch as one of Nokia’s best sellers.

What peaks my interest is why the back plate of the black model doesn’t say Carl Zeiss anywhere while the silver (original) 6500 does. One would think that would be a blow to the marketing people or that this model might not be a final retail unit.

Nokia 6500 slide Cell Phone Gets FCC Okay

The Nokia 6500 slide cell phone, which we recently saw on the Whack, has been granted FCC approval, paving its way into the world markets. Equipped with a 3.2 megapixel on-board camera boasting Carl Zeiss optics, the 6500 slide offers a TV-out jack allowing you to make video calls on your TV. It supports microSD memory cards, and a USB interface for data sync. Push-to-talk facility is available as well, but of course your provider should support it.

The Nokia 6500 slide features a 2.2" QVGA resolution screen. The camera allows you to capture video as well, but I must say I am looking forward to the TV out functionality more than anything. Up to 4GB microSD memory cards are supported on the device. It also supports Nokia Xpress audio messaging (which requires MMS to be activated on the phone). There's also a full-fledged email client and IM app on the 6500 slide.

The phone appears to be on target for its Q3 2007 release, priced at €370.

Nokia 6500 Classic

There’s no doubt about it - both Nokia 6500 Classic and 6500 Slide are beautiful devices. While the Classic is more polished, the Slide version is more powerful — or at least has a better camera. What follows after the break are two demo video clips, one for each variation of the Nokia 6500. Basically, they just emphasize specs and phones’ beauty — though that’s more than enough for me!

Nokia to use only microUSB ports on all phones starting with 6500 and 8600

I love it when companies finally understand what customers want. That of course is interoperability. One of the things I love about my MOTO Q is the fact that it charges via a microUSB cable, since I have plenty of those around. Apparently Nokia has figured out that maybe they should do the same thing with their phones.

The first Nokia handset to use the microUSB port for power, data and audio was the 6500 Classic. Now it looks like they may begin using it on all upcoming models. The new Nokia 8600 Luna slider will only sport the one microUSB port.

You wouldn’t think that the inclusion of such a port would be big news, but it’s good to see that big companies like Nokia are trying to make things easier for us.

Nokia 6500 Slider and Classic

Nokia has expanded its mid-range portfolio by offering two distinct handset with accent on fine craftsmanship and 3G connectivity. The Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide are unique with their simplistic, yet refined metallic design and rich features.

Despite being gathered under a common 6500-series model line the two handsets are pretty different when it comes to specifications and form factor.

The Nokia 6500 classic features a seamless body case made from anodized aluminum and measures only 9.5 mm in thickness.

With a classic bar form factor, it is based on the S40 user interface and features dual band 3G support (WCDMA 850/2100) and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support.

Focusing mainly on data transfers and streaming content instead on video calls, the Nokia 6500 classic doesn't feature a video calls camera and its main photographic gear is a 2 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash. It also offers a 2" 16M color TFT display with QVGA resolution and 1GB of internal memory. If that is not enough, unfortunately, the handset doesn't have a memory card slot.

The Nokia 6500 is also equipped with a microUSB port to meet all cable connectivity needs such as charging, listening to music and transferring data.

The Nokia 6500 slide comes in the slider form factor (obviously!) and is jam-packed with features. It is again based on the S40 user interface and features dual band 3G support (WCDMA 850/2100) and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support. This photo-centric handset has a video calls camera and is the first Nokia feature phone to be equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera. The camera itself has Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus and a dual LED flash plus video recording in VGA resolution (15fps).

The Nokia 6500 slide also boasts a 2.2" 16M color TFT display with a QVGA resolution and connectivity wise is equipped with a microUSB slot, Bluetooth, and a TV-out jack. The TV-out jack is not only for browsing your pictures on a large screen but also can be used for exciting features such as TV video calls and TV video conference calls. The device is further equipped with a FM radio with RDS and a microSD memory slot with support of up to 4GB memory cards.When it comes to design, the Nokia 6500 slide doesn't fail to impress, too. The body has a brushed stainless steel finish plus some clear hard coating which should prevent scratches and fingerprints.

Both handsets are due to hit the market Q3 this year.
